Exchange of experiences and internationalization of technology parks will be the focus of the agreement
 
The State Secretary for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, Nelson Baeta Neves Filho, and the United Kingdom Ambassador to Brazil, Alexander Ellis, signed on October 1, at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, in São Paulo, an agreement for cooperation between the State of São Paulo and the European country in the areas of science, technology and innovation, focusing on the exchange of experiences and the internationalization of technology parks.
 
The partnership aims to encourage good practices in the management of technology parks, in addition to publicizing these initiatives for the installation of innovative British companies in Brazil. The same work will be carried out with the parks in the United Kingdom, presenting the locations as possible destinations for the implementation of Brazilian companies.
 
“This interaction between São Paulo and the British will stimulate efficiency in the management of projects and attract new business, in addition to encouraging the internationalization of small and medium-sized Brazilian companies, contributing to economic growth, with the conquest of other markets”, predicts the secretary.
 
The agreement will also assess the implementation of a laboratory for smart cities of the future, aimed at developing solutions for integrated urban systems, with the involvement of six main pillars: energy, water, effluents, transport, health and sustainable construction for social housing. .
 
Among the planned activities are the exchange and training of members and employees from the State of São Paulo and the United Kingdom, the promotion of technical visits between the participants, companies and universities of the two locations, in addition to the holding of seminars to present the results. from the project.
 
 
Paulista System of Technological Parks (SPTec)
 
Coordinated by the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation, the São Paulo Technological Parks System (SPTec) provides support to technology parks, with the objective of attracting investments and generating new knowledge-intensive companies that promote economic development. from Sao Paulo. SPTec is part of the São Paulo System of Innovation Environments (SPAI).
 
In the State, there are 28 initiatives for the implementation of these projects, and the Technological Park of São José dos Campos was the first to receive the definitive status in the System. Since then, five other parks have also received this title. They are: Sorocaba Technological Park, Ribeirão Preto Technological Park, Piracicaba Technological Park, Santos Technological Park and São Carlos Technological Park (ParqTec). Today, there are 14 initiatives with provisional accreditation: Araçatuba, Barretos, Botucatu, Campinas (five initiatives: Unicamp Research and Innovation Hub, CPqD and CTI-TEC, Ciatec II and Techno Park), Vale do Paraíba University Park (Univap), Santo André, São Carlos EcoTecnológico, São José do Rio Preto and São Paulo (two initiatives: Technological Park of the State of São Paulo and East Zone).
