Samsung Ocean USP, a partnership between the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP) and Samsung, opened registration for a new edition of the startup pre-acceleration program, called "Incentive to Entrepreneurship in an Environment of Technologies Digitais Móveis", or simply "Intensive #5", which will last 17 weeks and will offer vacancies to ten companies that are formed by three to five people. Interested parties should read the regulation and register until the 14th of August using the registration form.
The selection process will consist of screening and interviews that will serve as the basis for choosing the participating startups. The program, which will offer face-to-face activities from Monday to Thursday, will start on August 29, 2016 and will end on December 21, 2016. During this period, the selected companies will undergo training, mentoring and attend lectures on business, user experience (UX) and technology.
The scheduled activities will be taught by USP professors, Samsung employees and partners. At the end of the pre-acceleration cycle, Poli itself will issue the valid certificate as an update course, which is new for this edition of the program.
"Ocean USP is a training center for developers and entrepreneurship. Our program meets the objectives of the Company, which established a partnership with USP precisely to be closer to the academic community and encourage the emergence of trends that may have an impact on the consumer market in the coming years", explains Guilherme Selber, Samsung Electronics Innovation Manager for Latin America.
Opened in April this year, Ocean USP is a space located inside the Production Engineering building at Poli-USP, whose objective is to support the development of applications and encourage entrepreneurship. The space, aimed at students of the institution and the community in general, is maintained by Samsung and has the University's team for its activities.
Eduardo Zancul, professor at the Department of Production Engineering at Poli-USP and one of the coordinators of Ocean USP, celebrates carrying out yet another initiative at the unit: "When we inaugurated Ocean USP within the Polytechnic School, we wanted it to be a platform for adding skills, people and projects, always being open to the community. Promoting, in the space itself, a cycle of pre-acceleration of startups is proof that our objective is being followed".
