Kwon made the announcement in his speech during a Samsung forum in Washington (USA). The executive chose two principles as essential for the "Human-Centered" Internet of Things approach: being open and collaborative. "If we want innovators everywhere to use the Internet of Things, we must make sure all the tools are open to them. This means technologies that connect, because we know that limits around technologies slow down innovation and its advancement in scale", said the vice-chairman.

He also warned that sectoral regulations fragment the development of the Internet of Things, preventing devices and platforms from connecting to each other. As the Internet of Things ecosystem is, by nature, connected and intertwined, collaboration is vital to promoting this level of openness and interconnectedness. In this sense, the vice-chairman called on the forum participants to continue with intersectoral dialogue and the establishment of partnerships. He also announced Samsung's role as co-founder of the recently launched National IoT Strategy Dialogue.

The Dialogue, which will be organized by the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), will design a National Internet of Things Strategy as a tool to inform regulatory authorities on how to enable technology to deliver benefits to individuals , communities, innovators, as well as the economy.

The event is part of Vision for Tomorrow, Samsung's Institutional Relations platform for cross-sector collaboration on issues affecting IoT policy dialogue in the US and around the world.
