Educational contest will deliver R$ 250K in prizes

Registration for “Answers to Tomorrow” is now open, Samsung's first corporate citizenship educational contest for teachers and students from public schools. The initiative aims to encourage youth involvement in the presentation of practical solutions to problems faced on a daily basis, based on the challenge: “How can mathematics and science improve your community?”.

“With 'Answers for Tomorrow', we at Samsung are encouraging Brazilian students and teachers to think of solutions with the application of mathematical, scientific and logical knowledge, which can generate positive changes in society in the educational, social, economic or environmental fields. We believe that this is a new way of building knowledge: school, students and community together for a more sustainable society”, says Helvio Kanamaru, Samsung's Corporate Citizenship Manager for Latin America.

Technically coordinated by Cenpec – Center for Studies and Research in Education, Culture and Community Action –, the contest receives applications from students organized in groups and under the supervision of a teacher. Comprising three stages, the contest will distribute approximately R$ 250 thousand reais in prizes to the winning projects and is scheduled to end on December 5, 2014. Among the prizes, the implementation of a Samsung Smart School, an interactive room structure with products state-of-the-art, in the schools of the winning teams. The purpose of the Award is not to finance projects, but to value the appropriation of didactic content in a constructive way for the benefit of communities. Applications must be made on the website. https://www.samsung.com/br/respostasparaoamanha.

In addition to the 'Answers for Tomorrow' program, the Company also creates new learning possibilities through the 'Samsung Smart School' and 'Tech Institute' projects. In the first one, the objective is to provide children with educational opportunities through access to technology, for which the Company is responsible for infrastructure, donation of electronic devices such as tablets, electronic whiteboards and internet connection, in addition to being involved in long-term programs, which include the training of educators. At the 'Tech Institute', Samsung offers professional training and vocational support for students and young technicians, favoring the qualification of the local workforce. “We invest in education, as it is an essential premise for nations to reach their potential by creating sustainable and well-structured societies, in which people can thrive”, concludes Kanamaru.
