The comparison with the indexes achieved by other companies is possible thanks to a survey carried out by IDC at the request of Salesforce, the iDX Business Digitalization, in which executives from 100 companies with more than 500 employees in Brazil were interviewed. This benchmark aims to measure the progress in the digital transformation that companies are applying to the resources they use to interact with their customers, that is, in the areas of sales, marketing and customer service.

Scanning Survey Results

On a scale ranging from 0 to 100 points, the overall business digitization index reached 67.5. With regard to the pillars that made up the study, Mobility reached 80, followed by Speed and Productivity (77), Intelligence (56.5) and Connectivity and Integration (41.5).

Who decides about digitization in companies?

It was found in the survey that 11% of business executives have the power to influence or decide on the digital transformation process. As for IT executives, 79.8% influence the transition and 20.2% are responsible for deciding the company's future in this regard.

Mobile use of CRM

According to the study, only 30% of companies have the CRM available on mobile devices, while 96% have corporate email accessible from smartphones and tablets.

Investment in Technology is a priority

When it comes to Speed and Productivity, Technology is the priority area for investment in process digitization in the next 12 months, followed by Operation, Purchasing, Marketing and Service. The Manufacturing and Commerce sectors, however, will concentrate efforts on the Sales department.

At the pace of the competition

The survey shows that 58% of companies claim to be at the same pace as their competitors and that only 15% of them see themselves ahead in this transformation. The benchmark can be an essential tool for organizations to have a clear vision of where they need to improve – 47% of companies have already identified the need to digitize themselves and 30% say they have a more structured evolution.

Integration is not a priority yet

The pillar with the lowest score in the benchmark was Connectivity and Integration, which despite being extremely important is not a priority for organizations, which prevents the implementation of solutions that bring productivity and scalability gains for companies, which are postponing actions in this regard .

Cloud is unanimous

As for Cloud, maturity is much higher and only 8% of companies do not have it in their plans. Among the decision makers interviewed, 31% intend to invest in process modernization in the next 12 months, 31% in up to 24 months, 19% in more than 24 months and only 8% have no planned investments.
