With a focus on IOT, the digital marathon receives entries until October 20

Considered one of the 100 most innovative companies in the world, Saint-Gobain, a reference in sustainable construction and industrial materials, takes the lead once again and launches the Ultra Challenge, an updated and unprecedented version of a Hackathon. Focusing on the development of solutions that use IoT (Internet of Things) technology, the entire marathon process will last three months and will be fully set up on digital platforms. Registration takes place through the company's website, between September 26 and October 20, and is open to students and professionals in the areas of technology and innovation linked to both startups and companies.

Competitors will have the challenge of bringing innovations that positively impact the relationship between Saint-Gobain's customers and their experiences with civil or industrial construction. They can choose to develop new solutions or tools that integrate intelligence into the MC 350. It is an IoT device, produced in an unprecedented and exclusive way by Saint-Gobain itself, whose technological mechanism allows the collection of data related to the comfort of environments, through attributes such as acoustic and air quality, temperature and luminosity.

“We want to bring new and true experiences that integrate people into the environments in which they live”, explains Fabiano Sant'Ana, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of Saint-Gobain for the Brazil, Argentina and Chile Delegation. “Our expectation is that the Ultra Challenge will be another means for us to continue the cultural transformation of Saint-Gobain and continue to foster innovation in the country”, completes the executive.

From entries to awards

The process has 50 vacancies for both individual registrations and groups linked to companies or startups. On October 26th and 27th, those selected will participate in a workshop on the Internet of Things and how to use it to bring new solutions that positively impact consumers' lives. Therefore, they will receive mentorships focused on the customer experience.

On November 25, the pre-pitch will take place, when the contestants will “pre-sale” their projects to the judges. The dates of presentations and final defenses are yet to be defined. The winners will be announced in early December. To choose the winners, criteria such as innovation, adherence to the theme proposed by the UltraChallenge, technical feasibility and implementation will be considered by the jury.

awards

The first place winner will be awarded a trip to Paris, where he will have the opportunity to participate in the Saint-Gobain Group's international Hackathon, on December 22nd. On the occasion, he will compete with the recipients of hackathons from France and Russia and will have the chance to pitch to the brand's global CEO and receive an incentive award for the project.

The second place will also be supported by Saint-Gobain, with a budget agreed in advance. The third best will receive a scholarship to take a course at the Faculdade de Informática e Administração Paulista (FIAP).
