The program encourages startups to create technologies to improve clinical diagnosis

With the objective of seeking personalized and innovative solutions, the Roche Challenge 2019, in partnership with Innoscience and StartSe, invite startups to compete in the implementation of technologies that improve indicators of medical diagnoses and therapies. Registration takes place until June 23 through the link https://desafioroche.com.br/

Based on the growing increase in information generation, Roche seeks technologies that centralize patient data and enable a more assertive diagnosis within the shortest possible time. The initiative is a program structured in the Prize Competition format, which presents opportunities and needs in the search for results. This year, the prioritized technologies are:

• Traceable / cloud data
• Scalable solutions
• Apps, software, Artificial Intelligence
• Holistic solutions

New tests and diagnoses, as well as inaccurate and non-evidence-based solutions will not be valid.

Award options include a week-long equity-free immersion program at Roche Diagnostics' Digital Health Accelerator in Munich, Germany; and the subsidy of consulting services to assist the startup in defining its business model, growth strategy or internal structuring.

Last year, Roche announced the Heart Care app as the winner of the 2018 Roche Challenge, focused on recognizing innovative solutions in healthcare data management. In the edition, 180 registered projects were evaluated. In addition to the Heart Care platform, the other four finalists were: Helpbell, focused on real-time monitoring of patients who are using medication to improve treatment and medical decisions; Mindify, artificial intelligence applied to medical protocols to validate clinical data and suggest possible diagnoses; Avicenna, application of artificial intelligence in health systems to share data with patients, doctors and managers; and Wecancer, an application to record symptoms of cancer patients, allowing monitoring by doctors and sending alerts to hospitals.

Roche believes in the potential for healthcare transformation through the creation and use of knowledge generated by access to large-scale data (in depth and scope), enabling more personalized care in the medical field.
