The event will take place from September 15th to 17th in Rio with the institutional support of ABES

Reinventing the event every year is the challenge revealed by the general coordinator of Rio Info (rioinfo.com.br), Benito Paret, during the launch of its 13th edition, which will take place from September 15th to 17th, at the Royal Tulip Hotel, in Sao Conrado, Rio de Janeiro. Bringing companies in the information technology sector closer to their users is the organizers' strategy to strengthen them with gains in competitiveness, efficiency and quality. The event has the institutional support of ABES

The central theme of Rio Info 2015 will be the technology of use (internet of things – IoT) with its transversality. According to Paret, although the use of technology is broad, society is still in its infancy: “The internet of things is already among us, but it still requires a lot of resources to be a reality. We envision its applications, but we have not yet used it as it will be in the future. Companies need to prepare for the opportunities that will arise.”

Paret, who is also president of the Union of Computer Companies of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TI Rio), informs that one of the bets of the event is the investment in the training of youth regarding the IT dimension. With this objective in mind, there will be the track – “Profissionals of the Future”, focused on high school students, so that they can broaden their understanding of how the sector's activities are present in everyday life, and are applied not only by specialized professionals.

The municipal secretary of Science and Technology of Rio de Janeiro, Franklin Coelho, announced that the seminar “Smart Communities”, which he will coordinate at the event, will be renamed: “We have evolved from the concept of smart cities to that of communities, that is, we are going to work on how communities appropriate technological innovations”. He recalled that Rio Info 2015 is part of the events commemorating the city's 450th anniversary.

The superintendent director of Sebrae/RJ, Cezar Vasquez, highlighted the integrative nature of the event: “We see Rio Info as an instrument for uniting IT entities. A space that strengthens the articulation of the sector. Our partnership with Rio Info is more than an obligation. It brings excellent returns.”
