Number represents an increase of 35% in relation to the monitoring of the same period in 2014

The Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES) announces the half-yearly result of its Internet Monitoring action. During the first six months of the year, the entity withdrew from the air 36.584 links, websites and advertisements from internet auction sites, which gave access to download illegal copies of software from the entity's associates. This number corresponds to an increase of 35% compared to the first half of 2014.

In this period, the highlight was the removal of auction sites that added up to a total of 18.854 illegal software ads. In addition, they have been removed 17.191 links access to illegal copy downloads. There was also an increase in relation to the total number of websites, 91 have been removed against a total of 32 in the same period of 2014, an increase of 180%.

The purpose of this action is to identify any content that violates the Computer Software Copyright Law of any software manufacturer associated with ABES. The removal process consists of notifying the portal itself and the ISPs, by means of a removal request. This operation has existed for ten years and has the support of PPPI - Program for the Protection of Intellectual Property, from Mercado Livre, which promotes the removal of illegal content that are within its portal.

ABES also offers a channel in which anyone can make an anonymous report about the use of pirated software in a company, the Portal Report Piracy.
