Created to encourage actions to combat unfair competition and the defense of intellectual property, the Software Piracy Anonymous Reporting Portal (http://www.denunciepirataria.org.br/) has been refurbished to ensure a better user experience. In addition to a more modern layout, which guarantees the completion of the complaint in just three steps, this new version brings a more efficient interface in relation to the analysis of companies by the respective manufacturers, allowing a more precise verification of the situation in each case. This represents an important advance, since in 2014 alone, around 12,900 complaints were registered on the portal.

An initiative of ABES (Brazilian Association of Software Companies) in partnership with BSA - The Software Alliance and with support from Boa Vista Serviços, the portal allows anonymous 100% reports, which can be made by anyone, whether physical or legal, whether in reason of problems pertaining to unfair competition, or even, if it simply does not condone illegal practices like this.

According to research conducted by IDC and BSA, 50% of all computer programs installed in Brazil are irregular http://globalstudy.bsa.org/2013/downloads/studies/2013GlobalSurvey_Study_pt.pdf.

“The Anonymous Reporting Portal is a commitment by the entities responsible for defending intellectual property and knowledge-based assets, which require investments to transform ideas into innovative products and services. By respecting copyright, the consumer is investing in a stronger economy, in the health and protection of national companies and in the creation of formal jobs ”, says Jorge Sukarie, president of ABES.

The entity also warns that the use of illegal software in companies weakens the principle of the legality of economic growth, with tax evasion and unfair competition. This behavior can lead to a sentence of up to four years in prison for the legal guardian, in addition to fines and indemnities of up to 3,000 times the value of irregular licenses for the company using the software.

The portal is also available as an application and can be accessed on IOS, Android and Windows Phone platforms.
