Area will develop solutions and applications for smart cities

Redecom Tecnologia, a company focused on urban intelligence solutions for digital cities, signed a contract to participate in the Science and Technology Park of the University of Brasília (PCTec/UnB). Chosen through a bidding process, the company will install its Research and Development (R&D) area on products and applications for smart cities. The plan involves the creation of proprietary and national technology for use in urban environments in the areas of smart mobility, urban convenience, citizen security and energy sustainability.

The first two projects will be in the area of mobility and sustainability: a smart bus stop integrated with the user and his smartphone, in addition to a smart pole with various interaction and connectivity items for digital city environments. In the queue are application store projects and mobile applications with georeferencing for use in cities. The new R&D area foresees investments of R$ 2 million over the next two years.

Created in 2013, the Park aims to encourage the development of new technologies through partnerships between companies, government, teachers and students at UnB. “We are very happy to be able to participate in this initiative. By bringing Information Technology (IT) companies into the university, we help to extend the training of professionals entering the market. In addition, we collaborate to create an environment of research and innovation, necessary for the development of new services and products with national technology”, extols the CEO of Redecom, César Alcácio.

Redecom was part of the incubator program for innovative companies of the Center for Support to Technological Development of the University of Brasília (CDT/UnB) in 2005. The company's success story gained great prominence in the Brasília market, after its debut as a graduated company – which earned it the award for best incubated company the following year.

“We are back to our place of origin, where we left as an incubated company after 11 years of our foundation. We believe that it is in the academy that innovation is generated. And the basis of innovation is research and development. Now, the idea is to create national technology for application in smart city environments”, says Alcácio.
