Resources go to GeekHunter, which created a platform to help
in hiring IT professionals

The startup GeekHunter (www.geekhunter.com.br), a platform developer that helps companies to hire IT talent, is the second company to receive funding through the Angel Investor Network (RIA) - Santa Catarina, initiative of the Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) in partnership with Anjos do Brasil. In March, the company participated in the first RIA forum presenting its business model to network participants - after four months, the company announces the first round of investments through six angel investors, with Eduardo Smith as the leading investor. The funds will be used to accelerate the company's growth, with the search for new contractors for the platform and the evolution of the product.

The difficulty in finding specialized labor in the technology area generates an average time of hiring of 48 days, according to the research Grant Thornton International. The GeekHunter platform, which offers companies resumes from qualified IT professionals in addition to presenting candidates with the best job opportunities on the market, reduces that time to an average of 20 days.

“Through the platform, we make a battery of tests to filter only the best candidates for each function profile (Java programmer, Phyon, PHP, iOS, Ruby etc.) and only 5% of the candidates are approved. This significantly reduces the hiring cycle, the cost of the recruitment process and all the inconvenience and losses due to not having the right professionals ”, comments Tomás Ferrari, CEO and founder of GeekHunter.

Based in Florianópolis, the startup started operating in July 2015, at the Celta incubator. Today there are already more than 10,000 registered candidates on the platform, distributed throughout Brazil, especially in the Southeast (62%) and South (20%) regions. More than 230 companies - including Dafiti, Ambev, BlueTicket, Chaordic, BankFacil and GuiaBolso - use the solution, which makes about 160 job offers per month.

The service is free for candidates and paid by contractors, only in case of successful hiring. “It is a mature startup, which has already reached breakeven even with little time to market. In addition, it showed a solution that can actually help solve a sensitive problem in the technology market ”, comments Marcelo Cazado, leader of ACATE's Angel Investor Network (RIA).
