Entrepreneurs interested in participating can now apply; Deadline is January 20th

Registration for the first 2020 StartOut Brasil mission opened this Monday (9/12). The program supports the insertion of Brazilian startups in the most promising innovation ecosystems in the world. Between April 19 and 24, about 15 startups will be taken to New York, United States.

The selected companies will receive international pitch training (business presentation speech) through training, mentoring and connection actions with prominent partners and actors in the innovation ecosystem.

The Secretary of Development of Industry, Commerce, Services and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy, Gustavo Ene, explained that the choice of destination was based on the analysis of the market potential. “To define New York as the first mission of 2020, we evaluated the number of incubators, accelerators and investment funds. The volume of investment, type of support from the local government, opening to foreign startups, investment in innovation, support programs for softlanding and installation costs in the country were also analyzed,” said the secretary.

Interested startups can apply until January 20 on the StartOut Brasil website. The form must be completed in English, with specific data about the company and the target market. Brazilian startups from any area of activity that already have traction in the domestic market and concrete conditions to internationalize can participate, without compromising their operations in the country. In addition, companies need to have revenue or have already received some type of investment.

Entries will be analyzed by those responsible for the organizing institutions and the 40 best-placed startups will be evaluated by experts in the target market. In the end, 15 Brazilian startups will be selected that have never participated in the program or were part of only one cycle; and up to five startups classified as graduated, that is, those that participated in two or more StartOut Brasil cycles.
