Selected companies will receive R$ 200 thousand in scholarships and financial support

The Start-Up Brasil program is open until October 24th, for the selection of over 50 new technology-based companies to be part of group four of the acceleration initiative. Each supported startup will receive R$ 200K in grants.

To compete, companies must be up to four years old and need to develop information technology software, hardware and services or create new solutions that use these elements in their innovation effort.

Applications must meet the eligibility criteria of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq/MCTI) for national startups and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) for international startups.

selection criteria

Among the proposals sent, up to 25% of the vacancies will be destined to international startups, which must move to Brazil to receive the support. After the disclosure of the selected start-ups, each one has 60 days to negotiate with up to six accelerators out of the 12 qualified ones and close an agreement with one of them.

Once this contract is signed, the startup becomes part of the acceleration program, thus receiving the support of R$ 200 thousand in research, development and innovation grants for entrepreneurs and attracting human resources.

In addition to these grants, the contemplated project receives a financial contribution from the accelerator, of a variable amount, for insertion in the market. Benefits include mentoring, coaching, training, legal advice and networking, among others.

The National Startup Acceleration Program (Start-Up Brasil) works in editions, lasting one year, and carries out two public calls - one to qualify and enable accelerators and the other to select startup projects, with two biannual rounds.

During the year, selected startups participate in events, receive follow-up and have the possibility to participate in the national or international Demo Day. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) in partnership with accelerators, and is part of the Strategic Program for Software and Information Technology Services (TI Maior). The action has Softex as the operational manager and Apex-Brasil and CNPq as partners. To know more: www.startupbrasil.org.br.
