Initiative will select startups with digital projects applied to health

Bayer initiative selects 5 startups to accelerate the development of innovative solutions, with a grant of 50 thousand euros, coaching and stay at the company's office in Berlin

Startups across the country can now apply for a new round of Bayer's Grants4Apps Program selection process. Interested parties have until May 31 to submit their digital projects that contribute to improvements in the health area. In this edition, efforts are focused on projects related to the areas of Women's Health, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Hematology, Oncology and Radiology.

“We are looking for startups that develop solutions for certain areas of Bayer's healthcare, or that have initiatives focused on projects that support disease prevention, patient adherence to treatment, clinical trials, awareness or management of clinical conditions. Solutions can be mobile apps or services, wearables, software or hardware. We don't limit technology”, emphasizes Patrick Fenzl, IT Business Intelligence & Analytics at Bayer Brasil.

Applicants must be over 18 years of age, fluent in the English language and the composition of the team requires a minimum of three members.

"The options are numerous, but the common point of this global initiative by Bayer is the passion for innovation. We are a company focused on Life Sciences and fostering education and innovation are part of Bayer's DNA", adds Theo van der Loo , president of the Bayer group in Brazil.

The program contract will be signed only with legal entities, that is, candidates who have a registered company name, regardless of the country.

"Key members of the selected startups will stay at Bayer's Berlin facility from August to December 2016 to accelerate the development of their projects," explains van der Loo.

Bayer offers a series of benefits to the five selected teams: a financial contribution of 50 thousand euros for each startup during the entire stay, coaching and intensive training with subject matter experts, mentoring with senior Bayer executives, in addition to access to a wide range of professional contacts.
