Application for projects aimed at the energy sector goes until April 16

Safira Energia, one of the main traders and consultants in the free energy market in Brazil, has applications open until April 16, for the first edition of its Safira Inovação Program, which foresees investments in up to three startups specialized in projects and solutions for the energy market.

Startups from all over Brazil can apply and are in the stage of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) developed and validated, or even operational. The pre-selected projects participate in a pitch day and those chosen will receive a total investment of up to R$ 500 thousand, in addition to physical space to work, access to Safira Energia's know-how and the energy market, in addition to a trip to Silicon Valley to the winning project. The investment in each startup is variable and will be given through equity participation and the intellectual property of the project will be defined when the contract is signed.

The executive director of Safira Energia, Mikio Kawai Junior, says that the development of the Brazilian energy sector certainly involves the diversification of the energy matrix, with the adoption of alternative and sustainable sources, such as solar and wind power. However, to develop this ecosystem more effectively, it is necessary to have the support of technological applications on the most varied fronts. “It happens that the companies involved do not always have the human capital or even the necessary expertise for this purpose. Our startup incentive program is precisely intended to identify projects relevant to the sector, and provide the necessary conditions for them to reach maturity and be put into practice”, he highlights.

In addition to the initial investment, those selected for the program will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge through direct contact with directors, managers and specialists at Safira Energia and receive feedback on the adherence of the developed solution. “They will also be able to test their solution in real situations in our company, and gain more visibility when receiving the seal of a big company like ours”, completes Kawai Junior.

Registration for the selection phase is now open and runs until April 16th. Companies interested in participating in the program must register on the SartSe website, at the link https://goo.gl/yEMX2h. The pre-selected projects will be announced on the 19th of the same month. The pitch day, which is when the projects must be presented to the evaluation panel, made up of directors and executives from Safira Energia, is scheduled for May 3rd.
