Ela Empoder@ aims to generate new businesses run by women and promote women's empowerment in entrepreneurial communities

Softex announces the launch of Ela Empoder@, a program developed exclusively to foster the protagonism and development of female digital entrepreneurs in the State of Rio de Janeiro.

The initiative, carried out with the support of the Softex agent RioSoft, has as its target audience startups that have projects in the ideation phase and that have women as founders or co-founders. According to data from the study "Women in IT” carried out by the Softex Intelligence area, only 20% of the workforce in the formal information technology market is made up of women.

"In addition to helping to promote women's financial independence by offering research grants for the development of technology-based projects, the program's goals are also to collaborate with the increase of women's participation in the labor market in the IT sector and favor their empowerment in entrepreneurial communities”, explains Rayanny Nunes, manager of the innovation area at Softex.

According to data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) survey, in 2020 Brazil should reach the highest level of initial entrepreneurs in the last 20 years, with approximately 25% of the adult population involved in opening a new business or with a business with up to 3.5 years of activity. A survey carried out by GEM in partnership with Sebrae estimates that there are a total of 53.4 million Brazilians ahead of some entrepreneurial activity, involved in the creation of a new business, consolidating a new business or making efforts to maintain an already established business .

The Ela Empoder@ Program will be carried out in 03 phases. The first (EMPOWER) o has the goal of empowering up to 100 women. In this stage, up to 30 teams will be selected to receive content on development and acceleration, in addition to fortnightly monitoring and mentoring once a week.
