Second edition will feature the participation of 25 states and the Federal District; expectation is that
up to 1,000 new startups are created in Brazil
The Centelha Program, whose main objective is to support and encourage the creation of new innovative businesses, has reached its second edition. This year, the initiative will have the participation of 25 states and the Federal District and foresees the investment of more than R$ 97 million, of which R$ 74 million by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and R$ 23 million by state partners. In the first edition, more than 15 thousand innovative ideas were submitted throughout Brazil and more than 1 thousand municipalities were involved.
Enrollments for the Centelha Program are open in 8 states (SP, GO, AP, DF, AL, MS, SC and PE) and in the Federal District. All participating states must open enrollment by the end of the first half of 2022. The expectation is that, by the end of the program, around 1,000 new startups will be created throughout Brazil, with the involvement of at least 50,000 entrepreneurs . Each awarded company will receive around R$ 50,000, in addition to training and support for
turn ideas into successful businesses. Proposals may be submitted by individuals, whether or not linked to companies with up to 12 months of existence prior to the date of publication of the notice.
According to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Marcos Pontes, it is with the Centelha Program that the future of many startups and companies will begin. “The transformation of innovative ideas into concrete businesses and the realization of dreams will guarantee the economic and social future of each state and, consequently, of the whole of Brazil”, he completes.
The Centelha Program is promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and by the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep), in partnership with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), the National Council of State Foundations of Amparo to Research (Confap) and the CERTI Foundation.
