Employees from several countries contributed to the development of improvements in public institutions and agencies

A team of IBM professionals from all over the world (United States, United Kingdom, China, Turkey, Australia, South Africa, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Vietnam, Netherlands, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Poland and Chile) , was during the months of September and October in the cities of Uberlândia and Joinville to share knowledge and experiences, aiming to elaborate proposals and strategies for the development of institutions and public bodies.

The initiative, called Corporate Services Corps (CSC), is part of one of the company's global programs, whose function is to assist in the development of local bodies and institutions. For 60 days, thirty days in each city, the team of employees was divided among the nine organizations to study the current scenario and propose improvements that could contribute to the growth process of each one of them, also collaborating for the formation of leaders with a globalized, systemic and integrated vision, inside and outside the company. In addition, the project aims to contribute to a better management of critical issues in society, such as economic development, citizenship, education and culture, health and sustainability.

This was the first time that the program took place in medium-sized cities and had partnerships with public secretariats. Another innovation of this edition was the presence of one of IBM's clients, the bank JP Morgan Chase, which sent four representatives to work on the projects in Uberlândia.

In the city, the institutions benefited by the initiative were: Ação Moradia, Instituto Politriz, Instituto Ipê Cultural, NGO Casa and the Secretariat for Economic Development and Tourism. In Joinville, the Tourism Foundation of the City Hall, the Projeto Resgate Association, the Technological Innovation Park of Joinville and Region (Inovaparq) and the Municipal Environmental Foundation (Fundema) were contemplated.

“The results presented made us very excited and confident that all the organizations involved will be able to walk in a more organized way and with more integrated processes, thus being able to achieve their self-sustainability. In addition, each professional also gains a lot, as they learn from organizations that face challenges to manage and execute projects with few resources, but that mean a lot to local communities”, says Alcely Barroso, Corporate Citizenship executive at IBM Brazil.

Among the main proposals presented, the following stand out:

Housing Action (Uberlândia) – project focused on the brick factory to improve the stages of production and product quality. In parallel, improvements were also proposed in financial management, through the mapping of financial data and processes.
