The search for productivity has come up against paradigm shifts to identify new ways to achieve better results. As in other sectors of the economy, the use of mobile devices, corporate social networks, analytical indicators and process automation solutions in the construction segment should contribute to such business challenges. The adoption of these tools is the gateway to the era of digital productivity.

The speed in the exchange of information can leverage the management of the construction site in the financial, economic and physical aspects, helping a construction company to guide and control in a participatory and direct way the development of the work and guarantee that the business model, the margins and the efforts are in the right direction.

Studies to improve productivity should lead to the reduction or elimination of repetitive steps. Mobile devices, for example, are already heavily adopted by employees at all levels of the organization. However, do your company's internal procedures already include the use of smartphones and applications that allow data visualization at any time and place? Management systems (ERP), a reality in almost all companies, have already developed these features, but the adoption depends on the organization's ability to promote the necessary changes.

In most construction sites, the collection of information is still carried out on clipboards and task sheets that record the daily progress of the work. After manual registration, the notes are delivered to a person responsible for entering the data in the ERP. In addition to the risk of registration failure due to spelling or typing error, information takes time to arrive for decision making. Often, they don't even arrive.

The use of mobile devices allows the appointment to be carried out in real time, reporting more quickly the progress of the work, the availability of material and other construction routines. The result is greater data security and predictability of actions that need to be taken daily rather than every week or fortnight.

Smartphones and tablets replace clipboards and allow you to view the tasks assigned to each employee in real time, even if remotely. In addition to enabling monitoring, the tool authorizes executives to interfere in the process, approving requests or changes to schedules through workflows.

Another important benefit of digital productivity technologies is bringing teams from different sectors together. A corporate social network enables the dissemination of information by the company and employees in communities, encouraging collaboration and the exchange of data and best practices between them.

The reliability of the information and the speed with which it is accessed contribute to a more assertive project, avoiding waste of material and resources due to planning errors or lack of follow-up. The automatic integration of site data with the organization's other information, through management systems, allows an integrated view of costs, deadlines and resources used in the project, in addition to enabling control by pre-established indicators.

A construction site is practically a city. Managing the entire dynamics of the enterprise and ensuring that the planning is being carried out correctly takes time and dedication. Entering the digital age simplifies this challenge and helps companies to operate in a simpler, more agile and more connected way, increasing their competitiveness and ensuring the profitability of their ventures.
