11th edition of the event promoted by Sebrae/SC and MIDI Technological will also feature Darwin Starter's DemoDay Santa Catarina startup acceleration project
Romero Rodrigues, founder of Buscapé Company, the largest digital commerce company in Latin America, is the guest of the first Startup SC Meetup of 2016, which takes place on February 18 at the ACATE Innovation Center (CIA) Primavera, in Florianópolis. The 11th edition of the event, an initiative of Sebrae/SC and the MIDI Technological incubator, should bring together around 650 people and will also present the 1st Demo Day of the accelerator Darwin Starter, which will bring to the stage the startups selected by the program's mentors.
At the event, which starts at 6:30 pm and has free registration, speaker Romero Rodrigues – also a partner at Redpoint Ventures – will tell entrepreneurs what he learned from startups. Graduated in Electrical Engineering, Romero began his career at LARC-USP, where he participated in important projects, such as the development of the internet in Brazil (RMAV). He is currently the CEO of Buscapé, angel investor and board member of Endeavor Brasil.
On the Darwin Starter accelerator's DemoDay, the startups selected by the panel of mentors will present their solutions and tell their stories. Darwin Starter is a Cventures project and brought together innovation projects from Santa Catarina in several sectors, which received cash resources and consultancy services carried out by leading companies and professionals in the universe of entrepreneurship and technology in Santa Catarina.
At the end of the 11th Startup SC Meetup, a networking session between the participants is reserved — from 9:30 pm to 11 pm, during a happy hour with craft beer. The event is supported by the CELTA incubator, Impact Hub Florianópolis and SmartMob and sponsored by the companies MailDocker ContaAzul, Embraco, Hiper and Meus Ordem.
