The president of ABES, Jorge Sukarie, was this Wednesday (18/03) in Brasília (DF) to discuss relevant topics for the ICT sector with representatives of the Legislative and Executive. The agenda included a visit to the Secretariat of Logistics and Information Technology (SLTI), of the Ministry of Planning, to introduce the Entity to the new SLTI Secretary, Cristiano Heckert, and to open a dialogue so that the private sector can, through of class, actively participate in the topics relevant to the sector that are on the agenda, including data protection, privacy, public procurement, among others.
 
The itinerary also included a visit to the Chamber of Deputies, where he had a meeting with Deputy Fábio Sousa (PSDB/GO), who recently assumed the presidency of the Science and Technology Commission, and also had the opportunity to follow the Public Hearing promoted by the Finance and Taxation Commission on the proposal to change the payroll tax exemption, in which ABES was invited to participate by the private sector and was represented by its legal director, Manoel Antonio dos Santos.
 
 
 
The agenda also included a meeting with the Minister of Communications, Ricardo Berzoini, to highlight the size and importance of the ICT sector. “Telecommunications are intrinsically associated with the universe of information technology. In this way, it is essential to integrate policies and projects between the areas, which contribute to economic growth, increase Brazil's competitiveness internationally and the expansion of the innovation ecosystem in the country”, explains Sukarie. He also stressed that the entity is available to discuss other key issues, such as information security, infrastructure, regulation of the Civil Rights Framework for the Internet, among other topics.
