The Recife City Hall announced yesterday, Tuesday (24), another strategic action of the Covid-19 Municipal Contingency Plan. This time, the technology will be an important ally in the fight against the coronavirus. With the use of geolocation technology, developed in partnership with the Recife company In Loco, the City will have access to a mapping tool for greater or lesser social isolation. Thus, the municipal management will be able to act in a directed way with educational actions and inspection measures, when applicable. On the occasion, the mayor also informed that the application Movimenta Recife, created to encourage and guide the population to practice physical exercise without leaving the house, is the most downloaded in Brazil in the area of Health and Wellness, with 13,400 users, so far .

“Today we started another action in the Contingency Plan, which already has 145 measures. This is a monitoring project using a geolocation technology tool, in partnership with the Recife company In Loco, which will monitor neighborhood by neighborhood people who are staying at home or not. The data are general, collective and people's privacy is respected, but monitoring will allow a series of actions by the government to increase the number of people staying at home”, said Mayor Geraldo Julio.

The manager explained how he will be able to use this information. “With this data, we will be able to better guide sound cars, for example. The City Hall currently has, in partnership with councilors, 20 sound cars that are running around the city, bringing information to the population. Knowing the neighborhoods that are not complying with the measures, we will be able to direct these cars to these regions. We hope that with this app we can monitor the city even more and ensure that people stay at home, which is essential at this time. The faster this virus spreads across Brazil, the more difficult it will be for the health system to meet this huge demand that can be generated”, assessed the mayor.

To monitor the cases and contain the spread of the virus, the technological solution will be based on the geolocation of smartphones, which will collectively monitor social isolation and generate an isolation index per neighborhood. The index will answer which neighborhoods are respecting the quarantine and which still maintain an intense flow of passersby. A total of 145 actions of the COVID-19 Municipal Contingency Plan have already been announced by the Municipal Rapid Response Committee, installed by the Recife City Hall since January.

The initiative will allow the City Hall to plan and direct its actions and concentrate efforts where necessary, from educational measures, through internet notification, use of sound car and inspection, when necessary. The use of Sound Cars as a tool for communicating restriction measures and reinforcing the importance of Recife residents staying at home is already being used and will now be able to be directed from data on where the greatest concentration of people is. Altogether, 20 sound cars are already circulating a day, seven days a week, through the city's streets, disclosing the importance of staying at home and avoiding crowds, an essential attitude to combat the spread of the disease. Neighborhoods such as Ibura, Jordão, Afogados, Córrego do Jenipapo, Vasco da Gama, Casa Amarela, Beberibe, Água Fria and UR-11 have already received the action.

Moves Recife – Launched last Thursday (19) by the Recife City Hall to encourage and guide the population to practice physical exercise without leaving the house, the Movimenta Recife app is already the most downloaded in Brazil in the area of Health and Wellness. The data are from AppBrain, the Android system platform that promotes and evaluates apps. Until this Tuesday (24), Movimenta Recife had already been downloaded by 13,400 people around the world, being not only in the leadership of the ranking in Brazil, but also in fifth place in Austria and Belgium.

Movimenta Recife was designed to minimize the impact of suspending the functioning of the Recife Academies, the Cidade Academies and the Malhação Truck, in addition to the recommendation to suspend the operation of the private gyms. The application is available on the Android system and contains gym and dance video classes to be practiced at home, at basic, intermediate and advanced levels.
