By providing a more effective solution than air cooling, Supermicro's exclusive assignee reinforces its positioning in line with trends in the data center infrastructure market

The increase in demand for more efficient server cooling systems is a short-term trend. A sign of this can be found in the IDC and Inspur Information report on artificial intelligence computing capacity in China. The study points out that this market increased by 82.5% in 2023 in that country. To meet an increasing demand from companies for more powerful equipment that meets their strategies, Positivo Servers & Solutions – a Positivo Tecnologia company specializing in the production and sale of servers, storages, mini PCs and IT infrastructure solutions for businesses and service – provides servers optimized by artificial intelligence and liquid cooling.

“As companies in all sectors transform their operations, with intensive data analysis, the use of AI and other forms of computing become crucial in their growth strategies”, says Silvio Ferraz de Campos, CEO of Positivo Servers & Solutions.

More powerful servers require more sophisticated cooling systems. “The greater the performance requirements of CPUs and GPUs, the hotter that equipment can become due to the processing generated. Therefore, Positivo Servers & Solutions offers several models with more efficient technology than air-cooled systems, traditionally used to prevent electronic equipment from overheating”, says Campos.

Liquid refrigeration is also a viable alternative to reduce companies' operating costs with their machinery. “Air cooling, to keep CPUs within adequate thermal levels, depends on the temperature of the incoming air and the amount of air over the chips. This requires high energy consumption to maintain the data center’s cooling systems and server fans,” he says.

Also according to the executive, the efficiency of liquid cooling drastically improves Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), which consists of the efficiency of using energy in data centers. “The liquid is more efficient in removing heat by up to a thousand times, allowing higher performance and higher density servers to be supported and consequently increasing computing capacity per square meter. By reducing the energy use needed to keep servers at the proper temperature, liquid cooling contributes to reducing carbon emissions from fossil fuel plants.”

With the aim of offering the server market in Brazil the best solutions and consolidating itself as the main supplier of infrastructure for data centers, Positivo Servers & Solutions joined, in 2008, Supermicro, an American company leader in the development of advanced computing technologies. and Green IT. “Supermicro offers the broadest and most complete portfolio of GPU servers in the industry, with customizable and scalable architectures to accelerate computing resources, avoiding over- or under-provisioning of AI operating environments, with efficiency and value”, says the CEO of Positivo Servers & Solutions.
