Focus on the expansion of Porto Digital, ensure financial sustainability and independence and expand business networking. These were the main steps pointed out by the president of Porto Digital, Pierre Lucena, during a meeting with entrepreneurs from the innovation ecosystem of Recife.

The goal of Porto Digital is, by 2025, to have around 20 thousand employees distributed in 500 to 600 companies in the park, with annual revenue of R$ 3.5 billion. With the proposed expansion, the park will double in size – currently, there are around nine thousand professionals in 300 companies, with annual revenues of R$ 1.7 billion.

To face the challenges proposed by management, Porto Digital will have three core activities: Business and Innovation, People and Territory. Check out the main proposals in each area for the period of five to six years:

• Business and Innovation: reach the number of 500 to 600 companies in the park and double revenue. To achieve the goals, the idea is to attract more companies to the park, develop more and more startups, set up a business network, open new markets and attract more investments. In addition, Porto Digital will seek business for the ecosystem.

• People: reaching 20,000 professionals in the park, focusing on initiatives to train the workforce and attract female employees through the MINAs program. A People Center will also be formed, as the first entry point for workers at Porto Digital.

• Territory: accommodating the expansion of Porto Digital is among the park's main concerns. Among the opportunities envisaged is the area of the Santo Antônio neighborhood, with the improvement of infrastructure in the region to meet the needs of high-tech companies.

In addition to core activities, Porto Digital will also develop support activities in the areas of Space and Sustainability. Among the proposals are the advancement in the equity structure, the search for the private sector to forward self-sustainable projects, cash generation for projects, scalability of solutions and focus on results.

about the mines

The Women in Innovation, Business and Arts (MINAs) program aims to strengthen the presence of women in the areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Creative Economy, with a focus on Pernambuco, especially in the cities of Recife and Caruaru. The MINAs have as their principles the demystification of the idea that technology is not a “women's place”; in addition to transforming the educational and professional environment of technology into a reality with a greater female presence, more welcoming to women and with equal opportunities. The Porto Digital MINAs are still based on the collective and feminine construction of actions - a program for women and by women - and the insertion of the perspective of gender equity in a transversal way to the other programs promoted by Porto Digital.

Historic

Recognized for its unique territoriality among innovation environments, Porto Digital is an urban park installed in the historic center of Bairro do Recife, but already has expansion areas for the neighborhoods of Santo Antônio, São José and Santo Amaro – which totals a total area of 171 hectares in the capital of Pernambuco. The region, previously degraded and with little influence on the local economy, has been rapidly requalified in terms of urban planning, real estate and the recovery of the built historical heritage. Since the founding of the technology park in 2000, more than 84,000 square meters of historic buildings have been restored.

At its foundation, the technology park was formed by just three companies and 46 people. Currently, Porto Digital is home to 316 companies, development organizations and government bodies, with 9,000 employees and 800 entrepreneurs. These projects generate annual revenues of more than R$ 1.7 billion. Companies of all sizes make up the Porto Digital ecosystem: from startups to multinationals, such as Accenture, which transformed Bairro do Recife into one of its strategic areas of operation.
