72 companies participated in the call, of which 26 were selected and presented their solutions to the organizing committee in the second phase. At the end of the program, eight companies were selected as finalists.

"In this 2018 edition we had a great diversity of technologies and innovations, with applicability in different sectors and themes related to Agribusiness. We saw in the presentation solutions that go through coffee commercialization, fire monitoring in the field, cattle weight management, system for indoor cultivation, identification of impurities in milk and fuel, biological pest control, rental of agricultural machinery and a specialized social network for crop management ", highlights Alessandro Machado, partner at Cedro Capital.

Pontes para Inovação's objective is to identify Embrapa's partner companies in the adoption and development of technologies for agribusiness, so that they can accelerate their business through the investment of capital from the Investment Fund and, consequently, expand the impact of their technologies in the market. .

For Embrapa's innovation manager, Daniel Trento, the broad interest in the call points to the growing trend of the participation of new companies in the offer of innovative solutions for the agricultural sector, and new possibilities for partnerships between S&T institutions, entrepreneurs and managers of capital funds. “The opportunity to generate new business in the agricultural sector is very great. The startups that manage to insert themselves in this environment have a promising market, because in addition to the sector being one of the engines of the national economy, the potential for scaling their businesses is enormous. Initiatives like this promote the approach of startups with financing funds, private companies and research institutes, fostering the innovation ecosystem ”, emphasizes Trento.

The companies' evaluation considered the adherence of the proposals with the research developed by Embrapa, potential and market opportunities, differential and competitiveness of the business, as well as the degree of maturity of the technologies for adoption by the market and possible social, economic and environmental impacts.
