Brazilian company 100% plans to 3D print low-cost houses

Bold goals: make additive manufacturing viable for industry, especially in construction, and revolutionize the way these projects are designed and executed. These are the goals of the startup InovaHouse3D, the only company in Latin America to offer this type of service and which has invested in the Autodesk solution platform, combining several tools that will help make this possible.

Founded in 2015, after entering the project in a startup competition, InovaHouse3D has a multidisciplinary team that aligns knowledge in electrical, civil, mechanical and chemical engineering. “Our project reached the finals of the competition, which attracted investments for research and development of a printer suitable for printing complex constructions and smaller projects, as well as the development of appropriate materials for this”, explains Juliana Martinelli, founder of the startup. .

The option to use Autodesk technology was due to a benchmark led by Juliana. According to the entrepreneur, the ease of knowledge of the tools, disseminated in universities, in addition to the flexibility of the products, made software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD (for projects) and Fusion 360 (for 3D adaptation) to be chosen not only to create building designs, but adapting smaller-scale files that are already being 3D printed.

“Currently, we are service providers and we serve landscapers, architects and individuals who want to print design and decoration pieces. We have had a lot of demand of this type”, says Juliana.

3D printer for large dimensions

The next step is the development of a 3D printer that is capable of printing an entire wall, for example, and for this InovaHouse3D has been using Autodesk Inventor, software for manufacturing. “Because of the complexity of the project, we know that the machine we are developing needs testing, not only for its functioning, but for the appropriate material, since this material must be flexible enough for printing and resistant so that it can be used in a residence”, completes the entrepreneur.

Currently, InovaHouse3D is already in the third version of this equipment. The project comprises the printing of a low-cost 32m2 residence that can be donated, for example, to refugees.

“Autodesk technology allows bold projects like this to become a reality, as the wide variety of tools we offer can suit different projects for any size of company”, says Claudio Pinto, sales director for Autodesk Brazil.
