The objective is to map technologies, products, services and solutions

The MCTIC launched this Tuesday (6th) a new consultation to subsidize the National Internet of Things Plan, under construction by the federal government. Contributions will be used to create a map of companies and scientific and technological institutions (ICTs) that offer IoT technologies, products, services and solutions in Brazil.

The deadline to participate in the survey (available here) is until the 16th of June. Companies must provide information such as the number of employees, the products created, which sector the applications are intended for, among others. The ICTs, on the other hand, should supply the database with their competencies in technologies applicable to IoT, the number of projects carried out and the number of researchers involved in research and development (R&D) activities, for example.

"Our goal is to build an atlas of the Internet of Things in Brazil, identifying everything that has already been done in this field and, consequently, what still needs to be done. In addition, this tool will greatly facilitate the exchange of information and the training of partnerships between companies and ICTs, which will be essential for the development of the sector", stated the secretary of Informatics Policy at MCTIC, Maximiliano Martinhão.

Structured and coordinated in partnership between BNDES and MCTIC, the study includes three phases: diagnosis and aspiration of Brazil in IoT; definition of priority sectors of the Brazilian economy to receive necessary investments for the development of IoT; and formulation of actions aimed at accelerating the implementation of the IoT market in the country.
