Interested in participating can submit responses until August 31

The Ministry of Planning, Development and Management (MP) wants to know which data should be opened by the federal public administration. Citizens interested in participating in theResearch Needs and Use of Open Data” can make suggestions until August 31. The action is part of the activities of the 3rd Action Plan of the Open Government Partnership (OGP).

“We will only have a digital government with the participation of society and this motivated this research. The Ministry intends to identify and implement mechanisms to recognize solvable problems from the government's offer of open data”, says Angelino Caputo, deputy secretary of Information and Communication Technology at the MP.

The federal government's Open Data Policy was instituted in 2016 by the Decree No. 8,777. To be considered open data, information must be made available in a format that can be handled by people and machines. In this case, any citizen can freely use, reuse and redistribute them, subject, at most, to the requirement to credit their authorship.

Among the actions of the Brazilian government in the sector is the Brazilian Open Data Portal (dados.gov.br). The site is the central point for the search, access and use of government data and currently has almost 3 thousand data sets available for use and reuse by society.

 Open Data Plan

To increase the amount of open data, the policy defines that all federal agencies must prepare an Open Data Plan (PDA) to disclose their information. To date, 64 federal agencies have released their PDA.
