The company doubles in size and now has the largest portfolio of technological solutions for healthcare

Pixeon, one of the largest Brazilian developers of diagnostic and laboratory medicine solutions, has just announced the purchase of Medicware, headquartered in Salvador and the second largest national provider of HIS (Hospital Information System) and Electronic Medical Records, Clinical Management and of Laboratories. The deal comes one year after Riverwood Capital's R$ 50 million contribution and is in line with the company's strategy to become the country's largest healthcare software company within five years.

During 2014, Pixeon had already acquired Lablink, a company from Santa Catarina that operates in the laboratory equipment interfacing segment and now, with the new acquisition, Pixeon becomes the Brazilian company with the deepest and most complete portfolio of technological solutions. for health, expanding its physical presence in the main markets of the country with more than 400 employees in São Paulo, Florianópolis, Salvador, Recife and Belo Horizonte, in addition to distributors strategically positioned to serve the health market.

According to Roberto Ribeiro da Cruz, CEO of Pixeon, the company's growth has been happening in a structured and sustainable way, making it more competitive. “Since November 2011, when we received the first investment from Intel Capital, our revenue has grown more than 9 times and the number of employees has jumped from around 50 to over 400. highly qualified professionals to compose the management team and mix experiences. With the acquisition and, consequently, a larger portfolio, we became a “one stop shop software provider”, that is, a supplier where the customer can find everything they need related to health software. Thus, we reaffirm our commitment to invest in technologies that integrate and transform this market in Brazil. Our objective is, in five years, to reach the position of largest software company for the health area in the country”, he explains.

The healthcare market in Brazil grows an average of 20% per year and offering a complete range of solutions was one of the main motivations for the acquisition. Pixeon owned the RIS (image centers) and PACS (digital imaging) systems, but did not have the PEP (electronic medical record) and especially the HIS (hospitals), software to which all others are able to plug in, making the processes more efficient management. “Medicware is a top-of-mind company, with a strong presence in the North and Northeast. They have developed a product of excellence in hospital management and their purposes are very much in line with those of Pixeon. Additionally, this transaction ensures the sustainability of our accelerated growth. When we entered the hospital segment, we tripled our operating market to 1.5 billion reais. For these reasons, we are committed to unity.”, says José Roque de Pinho, M&A director at Pixeon.
