Petronect, in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro university PUC-Rio, has just announced the opening of applications for the Supply Chain Challenge Blockchain, the ECOA (PUC-Rio) Oil and Gas supply chain hackathon, an initiative of the Department of Informatics of the Scientific Technical Center of PUC-Rio (CTC/PUC-Rio) to promote digital, democratic and free education. Until October 8, it is possible to register for free on the website http://www.puc-rio.br/ecoa/petronect. The Blockchain Supply Chain Challenge will be all online and submissions must be delivered by October 15th.

The competition challenges participants to propose prototype blockchain applications that revolutionize the supply chain of the oil and gas industry. Within this area, proposals may include supplier registration, supplier network financing, and information sharing. Registration is free and only Petronect will have access and will be able to use the solutions suggested by the participants. The company expects to receive dozens of submissions in this first edition of the competition. Elson Cordeiro, director of operations at the company, celebrates: “It is a milestone for us to be able to create, in addition to good ideas, the seed of innovation within the academic environment”. Also according to him, the hackathon is a kind of provocation to the market: “It is a key element in the continuous delivery of business and digital transformation”.

Diverse courses and lectures on Blockchain are available on the competition website, all free of charge, to help participants prepare and expand their vision. Content to help understand this area will also be offered, as well as live broadcasts with professors, researchers and people from the market. “The idea is to provide students and professionals from all over Brazil with the opportunity to show their creativity and skills, while improving their ideas”, reveals Prof. Gustavo Robichez, Development Coordinator of the Information Technology Department at PUC-Rio.

The winner will be announced live on October 31 at the company's 15th anniversary event and will receive a prize of R$ 5,000.00 (five thousand reais). The jury will be formed by professionals from Petronect and academics from the Department of Informatics PUC-Rio.

Petronect and ECOA/PUC-Rio are partners and, together, have a common technological agenda, focused on research and academic vision. The event also has the support of Gartner, the world's leading research institute in the technology area, and Café com Cavanha, a channel that discusses topics in the Energy, O&G and Supply Chain segments, including agencies, investors, companies, providers and technologies. .
