Gartner Inc., the world leader in technology research and advice, announced that the Internet of Things (IoT) represents a variety of technologies and uses that result in both unprecedented opportunities and risks for businesses. The key to managing threats and taking full advantage of opportunities is establishing an IoT architecture strategy.

"Enterprise architects have a strong potential to be at the heart of digital business," says Mike Walker, research director at Gartner. "This could be the way to consolidate an enterprise competence center that explores how the Internet of Things creates innovative advances for the organization's business models, products and services through rapid experimentation." security worries

Another Gartner survey points out that failures in the systems of large organizations happen on a large scale, even with high security spending.

The impact of the attacks already worries the governing body of companies, and this redoubled attention to security issues has increased the investment of many companies, focused on intensifying their actions against the dangers of the network.

"Flaw detection is at the top of the list among IT executives' priorities and the concern of security product buyers has reached an all-time high. Security Analytics platforms strive to bring situational awareness through the collection and analysis of a large number of data, so that the events that represent the most damage to an organization are found and prioritized with greater precision", says research director, Eric Ahlm, To learn more, visit: www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/3030818

Changes to data centers

Gartner also states that the structure and function of data centers will have to change or business agility and enterprise competitive strength will be compromised. This is due to the emergence of a new digital world from the double impact of the Nexus of Forces and the Internet of Things.

"For more than 40 years, Data Centers have practically been a protagonist of the IT ecosystem. Despite changes in power and cooling technology, as well as in the design and construction of these structures, the functions and basic requirements of Data Centers have, have generally remained constant. They are centered around high levels of availability and redundancy, well-documented processes for managing change, traditional delivery structures, and segmented organizational structures. This approach, however, is no longer appropriate for the digital world.” , says Rakesh Kumar, executive vice president.

Faced with this reality, Gartner highlights five reasons why organizations need to develop a more appropriate and modern data center strategy:

1. Make the Data Center behave like a factory and a laboratory;
2. Manage the pressure on the Data Center to make it agile and innovative;
3. Manage different types of risk;
4. Make the Data Center part of a broad, hybrid topology;
5. Embrace new technologies in a different way.
