Cloud technology accelerates exam processing in patient care in the units, with reduced waiting time for results

THE dasa, largest integrated health network in Brazil, announces a partnership with Oracle for the use of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), an innovative cloud workload solution that has already accelerated by at least 100% the processing of laboratory tests and the release of results to patients, increasing the productivity of attendants in diagnostic and hospital units. As important examples, the query time for previous exams of patients increased from 9 seconds to 1 second. The search for reports, such as employee productivity, went from 20 minutes to 5 minutes, and the volume of exams report from 10 to 5 minutes.

The partnership is part of Dasa's strategy to expand its network operations, which seeks scalability, resilience, availability and security in its systems in order to optimize and strengthen services, always focusing on increasing the fluidity of service to its users.

Danilo Zimmermann, general director of Technology and Digital Transformation at Dasa

“The results have been significant. In addition to greater robustness, the system updates showed important gains, mainly in the internal processes of our units, present throughout Brazil. Some routines that previously took hours are now managed and made available in minutes”, explains Danilo Zimmermann, general director of Technology and Digital Transformation at Dasa.

In addition, updates were constant to continue guaranteeing performance features. Now OCI guarantees high availability of the system 24 hours a day, without interruptions. “The innovation provided, in practice, greater productivity on the part of the attendants and, consequently, agility in customer service based on even more accurate diagnostic information”, completes Zimmermann.

Jorge Stakowiak, Director of Technology at Dasa, points out even more advances in laboratory test processing systems that impact the technical release of results. “Currently, information appears on the computer screen in five seconds. Before, the time was one minute. A blood count report, for example, was released in 40 minutes. With Oracle Cloud, it gets to 10 minutes. This directly reflects on the best experience for users”, he says.

The integration of Dasa's IT team with Oracle specialists was essential to achieve these results: there were more than 13 successful migrations thanks to the synergy and connection of the two teams. “In addition, Oracle provided and promoted training dedicated to the Dasa team. With that, the initiative has helped in the retention and preparation of personnel to contribute even more knowledge in new technologies, as well as updated learning and frequent recycling”, reinforces Marcelo Klingenschmid, superintendent of Technology at Dasa.

“Combining technology with health brings many benefits to people's lives and society. Cloud solutions are ideal for a sector that demands a lot of innovation and always needs to improve its performance”, says Guilherme Godoy, vice president of Oracle Cloud, Strategic Industries, Oracle Brazil.
