Oracle announced that it has acquired Compendium, a cloud-based content marketing provider that helps companies plan, produce and distribute content across multiple channels to attract prospects, engage buyers, accelerate the conversion of prospects into opportunities, increase adoption and drive revenue growth. Compendium's solution complements Oracle's Eloqua Marketing Cloud, which is part of Oracle's Customer Experience.
 
“As customers access more and more information through mobile and online channels, shopping is shifting from a sales-driven process to a marketing-driven activity. Today, more than ever, marketers are challenged to deliver relevant and engaging content across multiple channels, throughout the customer lifecycle,” said Thomas Kurian, executive vice president of Development, Oracle.
 
Oracle overtakes IBM in software
 
Oracle's software business has been growing at a faster pace, which has led the company to become the second largest software company in the world, overtaking IBM, which held the third place. For the past four fiscal quarters, IBM reported total software revenue of US$ 25.7 billion and Oracle, US$ 27.8 billion.
