Nominations can be sent until July 31

 

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and UN Women encourage men and women working in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector to submit nominations by 31 July. Among the objectives of the award is to recognize initiatives that help close the digital divide between countries, enabling equal access.
 
Applications are open for the annual Gender Equality and Integration in Technology (GEM-Tech) award, a global award that recognizes outstanding contributions by women and men to unlocking the potential of information and communication technologies (ICT) in promoting gender equality. gender. The winners will be selected by a committee of experts from the ITU, UN Women and the 2014 GEM-Tech winners.
 
The award in 2015 has three categories: Application of Technology for the Empowerment of Women, Women in the Technology Sector and Technology Governance Sensitive to Gender, Policy and Access. Online applications are open until 11:59 am on July 31st. To sign up, click here.
 
The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held in New York in December as part of activities around the World Summit on the Information Society. The winners will travel to the city to receive their award from the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Houlin Zhao, and the Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuk.
