Predictions of data theft in the cloud are growing exponentially and for 2019 they are frightening. The problem is very serious, as more and more organizations migrate their operations to the cloud with all their data, much of it confidential, without proper care.

Therefore, the Data Protection Unit, a division of CLM, in its effort to provide channels and their customers with the latest technology available to meet the new regulations, has just incorporated the BAS platform – Breach & Attack Simulation – into its portfolio Picos Security, which simulates constant attacks on cloud applications, looking for vulnerabilities not yet detected.

"Contrary to what is supposed, the information is not protected because it is in the cloud and with personal data protection laws, the responsibility for any leakage is the sole and exclusive responsibility of the company that collected and stored it," says the product director from CLM, Gabriel Camargo. And it's no use killing the sick to eliminate the disease. The way, continues the executive, is to protect the information stored in public and private clouds and this can only be done with the latest technologies, developed specifically for this purpose.

The cloud gives a false sense of security and that others are concerned about protecting an organization's applications. On the other hand, the amount of information growing extraordinarily increases the interest of cybercriminals and, therefore, there is an exponential increase in the volume and sophistication of the attacks. This, added to the many nuances and the severe penalties of the regulations for those who let their customers' personal data leak, demand effective protective measures, in a granular way, from companies from the most diverse segments.

In addition, with GDPR and now with the new General Data Protection Law (LGPD) in Brazil, companies can be punished twice: being victims of cybercriminals and having to bear very heavy fines and incurring serious damage to their reputation for not correctly ensuring the privacy of personal data.

More about BAS from Picos

The BAS platform relies on Data Exfiltration, which shows when and how someone tried to steal the organization's confidential data, anticipating possible leaks. In addition to analyzing whether devices are optimally configured, preventing potential leaks from occurring, BAS monitors, in real time and continuously, to show which systems are incorrectly configured for correction or improvement. Mainly because new attacks, with new tools, are generated all the time and it is necessary to be always up to date. In this sense, the BAS, from Picos Security, even indicates future investments, necessary to meet recent threats that are not supported by the deployed systems.

"There is no other solution on the market that does what Picos Security proposes to do," stresses the product director at CLM, which is the only distributor of the company's solutions in Latin America and is proud to bring this new technology to your customers.

CLM and the protection of personal data

CLM, in a pioneering initiative, recently created the CLM Data Protection Unit to meet the demands of channels and their customers regarding the protection of personal data. Thinking about the breadth of solutions to handle so many requirements, such as what data to store, for how long, when to discard, keep customers informed about how a given company protects data, etc., the distributor selected the best technologies available on the market to compose your portfolio. Among the requirements outlined by CLM are: truly disruptive technologies; there is no conflict between the solutions in your portfolio; have traction and minimal overlap.

“There are many doubts about compliance with the new laws. The LGPD has generated demand, especially in the legal area and in relation to culture and employee evangelization. It can be seen that, at times, employees have doubts whether or not they can send certain information,” concludes Camargo.
