According to a survey by ABStartups (Brazilian Association of Startups), the state of Santa Catarina currently houses 184 startups. This number grew 31% compared to June last year, which makes the state the sixth largest in number of nascent innovative ventures in the country.

One of the assets for the success of Santa Catarina entrepreneurs is the ecosystem in which they are inserted. The capital Florianópolis, for example, brings together the main elements for the development of startups: the city has frequent events, accelerators, investors, coworkings and a strong presence of local institutions, such as SEBRAE and ACATE – Associação Catarinense de Empresas de Tecnologia.

“Santa Catarina is certainly one of the main hubs for startups in the country. The state stands out not only in the number of ventures, but also in the quality of these businesses, we have important startups based in the region. This is the result of the maturity of entrepreneurs and the Santa Catarina ecosystem”, explains Rafael Ribeiro, executive manager of the Brazilian Startups Association.

Given the prominence that Santa Catarina has been gaining in the sector, ABStartups held on 07/14 the “Café com Associados”, at the ACATE Primavera Innovation Center, in Florianópolis, which discussed the topic “Talents”.

“Café com Associados is another event organized by ABStartups that aims to bring entrepreneurs together. Those still in the early stages have the opportunity to learn and share experiences with CEOs of large startups. This exchange of knowledge only tends to strengthen the local ecosystem, which has the potential to grow even more”, concludes Ribeiro.

Founded in 2011, Associação Brasileira de Startups (ABStartups) is a non-profit entity, which has more than 4 thousand startups in its database and its mission is to promote the Brazilian startup ecosystem nationally and internationally, providing market information and activating the relevant agents to increase the competitiveness of Brazilian startups.
