Initiative seeks to certify at least 30,000 employees by 2026. Consultancy aims to train workforce to boost levels of specialization in AI.

NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, today announced the launch of the “GenAI Academy,” a global Generative AI Talent Development program. Aiming to accelerate employee development, the program aims to structure a global standard-based training framework with multiple levels of expertise and experience. The initiative aims to empower the company’s workforce to maximize the value that customers can derive from GenAI technology, which is transforming various industries.

With the new program, NTT DATA offers basic GenAI training to approximately 200,000 employees worldwide – including the more than 7,000 professionals working in Brazil. In addition, the company has committed to certifying at least 15,000 higher-level GenAI professionals, with a goal of doubling that number to at least 30,000 by 2026. These specialized professionals will be instrumental in advising and supporting the development and implementation of GenAI solutions for the company’s clients.

“Generative artificial intelligence is a technology that, while still in development, already has great potential to positively impact the daily lives of professionals in all areas, increasing efficiency and productivity at work,” says Ricardo Neves, CEO of NTT DATA. “That is why we are offering this training to all of our more than 130,000 employees worldwide, around 8,000 of whom are here in Brazil.” According to Neves, “the program is structured to ensure that everyone receives high-level training, with standardized assessment indicators and a broad curriculum that covers the needs of various roles within the organization, in addition to being aligned with a career plan that includes everything from basic knowledge to the training of leaders specialized in Generative AI.”

Four levels of specialization are defined, ranging from essential knowledge in GenAI to specialists who will be responsible for leading innovations and large-scale technological implementations. In addition, training will be customized according to the role of employees, considering their qualifications, positions and the specificities of each sector, such as consultants, developers, Generative AI users and sales teams.

Investments in R&D and continuous innovation

NTT DATA’s GenAI expertise leverages the NTT Group’s research and development (R&D) investments, which include over 40 years of continuous AI R&D and the 12th-ranked GenAI patent holder in the world. Other strengths include the company’s carefully crafted partner ecosystem, global delivery capabilities, and end-to-end expertise ranging from consulting and strategy development to infrastructure and implementation.

NTT DATA’s commitment to GenAI innovation is a natural extension of the company’s mission to solve business challenges through advanced technologies. The company follows the NTT DATA Group AI Guidelines and will continue to invest in the evolution of GenAI to transform its customers’ operations and its own, generating a positive and sustainable impact on society.
