Oracle has just announced the Oracle Exadata Database Machine X8, with new hardware and software enhancements, as well as unique machine learning capabilities. Offering performance and availability, Oracle Exadata is the foundation of Oracle Autonomous Database, the world's first stand-alone database and Oracle Cloud Applications. In fiscal 2018, Exadata broke product sales records, according to the manufacturer, increasing its area of operation and starting to cover OLTP (Real-Time Transaction Processing), Analytics (Analytical Intelligence) and IoT (Internet of Things) , from various sectors, including finance, retail, electronics and telecommunications.

“For the past 10 years, Exadata has been running the most critical workloads for thousands of customers around the world. Exadata is now compatible with Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Cloud Applications, ”said Juan Loaiza, Oracle's executive vice president of Mission Critical Database Technologies. "Today, we are improving the performance and capacity of the platform and adding a wide range of resources based on artificial intelligence and machine learning to further increase the benefits of Exadata."

With Exadata X8, Oracle features unique machine learning capabilities, including Automatic Indexing, which continuously learns and adjusts the database as usage patterns change. Based on Oracle Autonomous Database technology, the entire process is automatic, improving database performance and eliminating manual tuning. Exadata X8 also includes a new automated performance monitoring, which combines artificial intelligence, years of performance experience and best practices to automatically detect problems, determining the root cause without human intervention.

“Across the IT infrastructure landscape, when you look back over the past 10 years, Oracle Exadata stands out as a critical means for database users to make the leap from on-premises data centers to the public cloud,” said Carl Olofson, vice president of Data Management Software at IDC.

Innovations in the Exadata X8 platform and greater cost effectiveness

Exadata X8's advanced hardware enhancements include the latest Intel Xeon processors and PCIe NVME flash technology to drive performance improvements - a 60% increase in I / O throughput for all Flash storage and a 25% increase in server IOPS storage compared to Exadata X7. Each Exadata X8 storage server now has 60% plus cores to offload Oracle database processing and 40% larger disk drives to support massive data growth and database consolidation strategies. These improvements do not increase prices, further improving the cost-benefit ratio of the Exadata platform.

In addition, a new, much lower cost extended storage server is available to store under-accessed, old or regulatory data. In Hadoop / object storage pricing, all customer data now benefits from the Exadata scale-out architecture and Oracle Database, including application transparency, operational model consistency, hybrid columnar compression (HCC) and the same model of security with encryption in all layers.

Oracle X8 Zero Data Loss Recovery Device

Oracle also announced the availability of the Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance X8, which is up to 10X faster in recovering data from the Oracle Database than conventional data deduplication devices, providing uniquely recoverability every second of all. transactions. The Oracle Recovery Appliance X8 now has a 30% higher capacity - almost a petabyte in a single rack - for the same price.
