Darwin Starter has open enrollment for startups in the Big Data area interested in participating in its third investment cycle. Created in 2015 in Florianópolis/SC, the accelerator has four corporate partners, including Neoway, a technology-based company from Santa Catarina specialized in creating market intelligence solutions through a Big Data platform. Together with the other partners, the accelerator will invest R$170 thousand in each selected startup in exchange for a minority stake of 12%, in addition to contributing with mentorships, connections, market access and all the partners' experience to accelerate the growth of new businesses.
In addition to Neoway, Darwin Starter's corporate partner, the program also has the support of Cetip, CNseg Par and RTM, and opens up opportunities for projects operating in the insurance, big data and IT/Telecom segments.
Applications are open until April 2nd and can be done through the website. www.darwinstarter.com.br. The expectation is to select between 10 and 15 companies, from any Brazilian state, that are already mandatorily formalized and active in the legal entity. Those selected will receive an initial investment of R$ 170 thousand in exchange for a minority interest of 12%. Businesses that perform well over the six-month acceleration period may receive more contributions from the group. In the first cycle, in 2015, 50% of the companies that were accelerated by Darwin received new investments, totaling around R$ 6 million.
The main criteria that will be evaluated in the selection process will be the business itself (product or service), the qualification and engagement of the team of entrepreneurs and the size of the target market of the solution, in addition to the maturity of the project.
In addition to the financial support and monitoring of corporate partners, companies will have legal and accounting advice, psychological support for entrepreneurs, training cycles and tools to support the development of the startup. In total, the services offered during the acceleration period can reach R$ 500 thousand in benefits, including access to Cloud Service, CRMs and marketing tools.
