At the end of March, NEC Corporation announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the main source of financing for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), with the objective of collaborating in the development of data centers in the LAC region (Latin America and the Caribbean).

Under the terms of the agreement, NEC and the IDB intend to jointly prepare a study on data centers and the importance of using them as a means to improve quality of life, security and governance in these countries. This study may cover the description and analysis of the need for data centers, the expected role of governments in relation to them, and the internet environments and technologies required for their deployment.

In addition, the partners intend to collaborate in the production of communication materials for dissemination of the study and to organize joint seminars and workshops for LAC countries in order to promote its findings and recommendations.
