Are you thinking about internationalization or identifying strategic partners? The Brazilian mission MTech Portugal 2017, which has the institutional support of ABES, aims to provide more knowledge, approach and partnerships with the ICT and research, development and innovation (R&D+I) market in this European country. For this, however, the project is conducted through dialogue with Brazilian businessmen who will be part of the trade mission, who can indicate the sectors and business profiles that are most interesting to evaluate. In addition, the organizers will provide support for the continuity of negotiations on trade alliances and technological cooperation agreements, after the trip.  
  
“Digital Trees, organizer of the mission, has developed an agenda that will allow serving each member of the delegation, seeking to fulfill all demands, through diverse, segmented and regional activities”, explains Gustavo Miguelez, Americas Director of the company.
 
“We have a different project, welcoming and knowing the expectations of Brazilian entrepreneurs in Brazil, through a briefing that we request from each one, just as we are mapping the interests of Portuguese companies, with the support of our local partners”, he explains. Virgínia Costa Duarte, from TIC em Foco, a consulting company in the area of technology, IoT solutions and business intelligence, partnership and co-performer of the mission. 
 
The stages of the journey
 
MTech Portugal 2017 activities will take place in 2 stages. The first, from November 5th to 8th, with a focus on matchmaking, Intelligence, Information & Networking, will take place in parallel with the Websummit 2017 in Lisbon, with a more corporate profile. The 2nd stage, from November 10th to 18th, will be a technological caravan through the cities of Coimbra, Porto and Ílhavo, regions of Portugal intense in technology, with the aim of developing technical and business cooperation agreements, with a more academic and institutional, with prior selection of the members. “Portugal is an attractive market, either because of the cost-benefit ratio of the country compared to other European nations, but also because of the quality of its workforce, geographic position, language and modernization and digital transformation initiatives underway”, explained Virgínia. .
 
The mission is supported by Aicep Portugal Global, EPE, Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade, a public entity focused on supporting and stimulating business opportunities in domestic and foreign markets, among other Portuguese government entities. 
 
“MTech is not just about networking. We aim to build lasting business relationships and offer a package of services, such as legal advice, that will help make business viable in the medium and long term”, adds Mônica Oliveira, from H&M Consultoria Tecnológica, which is also a partnership and co-worker. director of MTec.

About the ICT market in Portugal
 
In 2016, Portugal registered the opening of 114 companies per day and 35,000 startups registered in 2015 alone. Considered among the best countries for business in 2017, according to the FORBES ranking. The startup ecosystem has grown at an average of 2 times the European average. By 2020, ICT investment in the country will increase at a rate of 4.8% per year, announced IDC. The shares destined to technologies of the third platform and in the so-called “innovation accelerators”, will add up to more than half of the market. Stratifying the data, IDC notes that “in 2020, the third platform and innovation accelerators will represent 52% of ICT expenditure in Portugal”.
 
In the Portuguese market, currently, around 52% of the budget of medium and large organizations is destined for traditional ICT. Near 26% is aimed at outsourcing and just over 20% is aimed at the cloud, private or in a hosting model. However, with regard to the distribution of the budget for 2020, there is a decrease in the relevance of traditional ICT and outsourcing and a growth in the cloud, both public (from 5% to 11%) and private, with 43% in 2020 of the national corporate budget will be focused on cloud platforms (public and private), according to IDC Portugal.
