Technology is part of the large project to expand 100 stores with high efficiency and low operating cost

Miniso, a Japanese design brand, arrived in Brazil in April 2017 with a bold expansion project - from 1 to 100 stores in less than two years. With a very complex and particular Brazilian legislation, the company decided not to tropicalize its own software, used globally by all its units. Thus, the challenge was to select technologies that would meet the brand's business principles and the Brazilian context. In this search, the choice was made by Totvs' POS, hardware and ERP specialist.

Totvs' store management system, integrated with the POS, became responsible for offering all of Brazil's legal apparatus, including tax and ancillary obligations, to allow Miniso to make its sales to the final consumer in full compliance with the rules locations. The software also provides resources for purchasing management, inventory control and includes analytical functionality for strategic decision making.

Rapid deployment

Totvs had the challenge of implementing its solutions in a short period of time, to meet Miniso's inauguration schedule. And, in just two months, the technological project was ready to open the doors of Miniso's first store in Brazil, opened on August 26, 2017 - a time when the brand broke its world sales record, with 10,000 products in a single day.

“The robustness and performance of the POS in its ability to give flow to such expressive numbers, already on the first day of operation, showed that we made the right choice. In addition, Totvs differentiates itself by bringing together hardware, POS and ERP in a fully integrated offer, with unique support, serving end to end our business ”, comments Danilo Fornari, IT manager at Miniso.

The roll out for the second store took place on August 31, 2017, five days after the start of operations in Brazil. From then on, all 15 already inaugurated and those that will come until the end of 2018, with the goal of reaching the number of 100 units - 20 of which are owned and 80 franchised - will be supported by Totvs technologies.

Currently, there are 70 POSs in operation, handling around 300 thousand products per month - items that need to go through the boxes quickly and without errors. For this, Totvs' point of sale solution provides an interface designed entirely for the end user, remembering that the operator is not a technical person. In the touch screen or traditional model, with the use of the mouse, the system is so intuitive that the transfer of knowledge is done inside the store, with a simple training given by the manager.

Adequacy

These are among some characteristics of the technological project that have met the brand's business principles. With the culture of offering a high quality product, at an affordable price, it is essential for Miniso to have technologies that support it in maintaining its high efficiency and low operating cost, requirements made possible by the solutions adopted.

“We believe in the specialization of software to simplify management and solve particular pains or needs of different business models. In addition, as a complete retail platform, we are going a step further, thinking about the experiences that technology can provide, not only to our client, but also to our client's client ”, concludes Ronan Maia, vice president of Distribution and Retail of Totvs.

New phase

A 2nd phase of the technological project has already started, which involves the implementation of robust management software, also from Totvs. Natively integrated with the POS, the system will be responsible for consolidating the data generated by all stores in a single environment and, from that base, generating the company's tax and accounting information. This will allow Miniso to have a macro view of its business in Brazil, with centralized control of all its operations. This stage is expected to take place by the end of May 2018.

Miniso is also studying other Totvs specialist solutions to enhance the analysis of product orders and, thus, avoid disruption in sales.
