The INOVApps applications and serious games contest held the award ceremony on November 14, at the closing of the Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment – SBGames, an itinerant event that this year was held in Porto Alegre.
 
Contest prizes add up to a total of R$ 4.5 million. Each of the 25 winning application projects will receive R$ 80K. The 25 chosen serious games projects will have a prize of R$ 100 thousand each. INOVapss, which received 2,500 entries from all regions of Brazil, is an initiative of MiniCom in partnership with the Center for Scientific and Technological Development of the University of Brasília (CDT/UnB).
 
The categories with the highest number of projects chosen were in the areas of education, health, security and tourism. click here to see the final ranking result of serious apps and games.
 
For two years, the first version of the selected games and apps will be owned by MiniCom, which will distribute them free of charge. During this period, developers will have to deliver updates to the free version to the Ministry of Communications. But in parallel, they will be able to launch their commercial versions of the applications.
 
"Our objective is to promote the productive chains of these contents and encourage small developers and companies in the area of the creative economy", he said, emphasizing the paradoxical situation of the country, "which is already the fourth largest consumer of games in the world, but cannot stand out as developer in the world production of these games", explained the special projects coordinator of MiniCom's Executive Secretariat, Wanessa Oliveira.
