Technological MIDI trains nine companies for the IT market

The nascent businesses received consultancy, mentoring and support to attract investments for over two years

 

Nine companies focused on the health, industry, education, software, management and entertainment segments graduated from the incubation process at MIDI Tecnológico, an incubator founded and maintained by the Santa Catarina Association of Technology Companies (ACATE) and by Sebrae/SC. Startups GnTech, Winker, Youper, Vaees, Innovasens, Plot Kids, Applique, DIV64 and Plyom have reached a level of maturity sufficient to face the market. In addition to graduates, emerging companies also have the option of joining the post-incubation program, which lasts for one year and allows participants to continue having access to the benefits offered by the institution, such as courses and consultancy.

 

Currently, Technological MIDI serves 17 companies. In total, the process is divided into three steps: Pre-incubation, incubation and post. Seven of these startups are at the beginning of the program, when they receive support to validate their solutions. The other ten are incubated companies. They are divided into resident and virtual, that is, between those that physically occupy or not MIDI space. 

 

The incubator works with the concept of time x maturity to graduate companies. The average incubation time is two years, but it can be a little longer for startups that are in the health, biotechnology or hardware area, due to the longer development cycle they have. During the process, companies are monitored monthly until they present the necessary conditions for graduation. "The aspects observed each month in companies involve financial and operational traction that favor expansion, company performance and achievement of goals, proof of the sustainable competitive differential, attractiveness for investors and maturity of entrepreneurs at the behavioral, strategic and knowledge levels, characteristics that generate excellent management”, says Kamila Bitarello, MIDI technical coordinator.

 

New technologies for the market

 

The work developed by graduated companies involves several areas of expertise:

 

- A GnTech is a laboratory focused on human genetics located in Florianópolis. The company develops genetic tests that seek to aid medical treatments;
 
- THE winker offers a platform that facilitates condominium management;
 
– The startup youper is a digital platform that helps its users to overcome emotional problems and develop new personal skills;
 
– The graduate vaeees creates systems for business management;
 
- The company Innovasens operates in the microelectronics segment and develops sensors and systems for monitoring gases and environments;
 
- A Kids plot creates projects for various media platforms, and its products are aimed at children;
 
- A applique is a platform for producing online courses;
 
– The startup DIV64 offers service for the development of internet solutions, mainly for e-commerce;
 
– And the Plyom company creates software for retail trade.
 

 

Selected four times as the best incubator in the country by Anprotec, MIDI Tecnológico has already helped in the development of 112 technology companies in Greater Florianópolis, which represents around 14% of the sector's enterprises in the region. Through the mentoring and training it offers, the incubator has been concerned for 19 years with developing innovative and entrepreneurial business ideas. The method used also comprises approximation with the market, investors and entrepreneurs, which helps in the validation of the business, sending companies with high development potential to the market: around 85% of the businesses started in MIDI are still in operation.
