Program will make the Azure platform available for projects that use cloud computing

Microsoft Research launched a specific call for proposals for the Brazilian scientific community, with the objective of making the Azure platform available for projects that use cloud computing in their research. Selected proposals will have free access on the Microsoft Azure platform for 12 months, including up to 180,000 CPU hours and 20 terabytes of storage.

The call is aimed at researchers and graduate students affiliated with academic institutions or non-profit research laboratories in all areas of knowledge. Proposals must be a maximum of three pages and include a description of the research project that will use the platform and an estimate of the resources that will be used.

Windows Azure is a platform built for developing and managing web applications and services. These services can be as simple as a web page, or as complex as a tool for exploring huge collections of data. The deadline for submitting proposals ends on June 15th.

The address for online submission is www.windowsazurepass.com. More information on the page research.microsoft.com or by email azurerfp@microsoft.com.
