Cyber security is fundamental for companies' migration to the cloud and also in legacy environments, as internet access is a reality in the digital age. According to the Brazilian Software Market Study – Panorama and Trends 2016, produced by ABES in partnership with IDC, the issue of security needs to evolve to keep up with the new contexts and practices of cybercriminals, with technological solutions expected to gain more participation in companies' IT budgets in 2016.

In tune with these challenges, Microsoft highlighted its Enterprise Mobility + Security security platform at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, one of the most important meetings of CIOs and IT strategic executives, at WTC Events, which took place from October 24-27, 2016, in Sao Paulo.

According to Vanessa Fonseca, director of the Digital Crime Combat Unit, the objective is to position the company as a security player, through a comprehensive cloud solution integrated with flexible local infrastructure, covering users, mobile devices, applications and data – legacy or in the cloud.

For Fonseca, organizations need efficient and consistent solutions, and the security platform Enterprise Mobility + Security Microsoft is end-to-end and updated daily with new threats emerging around the world.

The director highlighted that the Brazilian market still needs guidance on the matter, as the reactive posture of managers, who try to resolve the security breach after it has already occurred, could be fatal. Microsoft studies show that it takes people 243 days between the occurrence of a cyber intrusion and its discovery. “It's an invisible attack for a long time, with consequences that can bankrupt small and medium-sized companies,” he explained.

For the executive, cybersecurity issues need to be addressed by the main leaders of an organization, who must invest in technological solutions, in digital education for users and in governance rules.
