Agreement results in new mobile solutions for common customers

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and salesforce.com President and CEO Marc Benioff announced a strategic partnership to create new solutions that connect salesforce.com's customer relationship management (CRM) platform and applications to the Office and Windows, so customers can gain productivity.

"We are excited to partner with salesforce.com and help our customers thrive in our cloud- and mobile-first world," said Nadella. "Working together, we will deliver new solutions that connect customer processes and Salesforce insights with the cloud productivity of Office 365 and the mobility of Windows, so our customers can do more."

"Today, the key is to put the customer first. Together with Microsoft, we are building bridges that allow our customers to be more productive," said Benioff.

Among the solutions the companies will offer, customers will now be able to access Salesforce and manage their business from any Windows device. The preview will be available in late 2014 and the system will be generally available in 2015.

Another benefit is new interoperability between Salesforce and Office 365 that will give customers access to the content they need to collaborate, sell, service, and sell from anywhere. Plans include the ability to access, share, edit, and collaborate on Office content from within Salesforce using Office Mobile and Office for iPad; use OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online as integrated storage options for Salesforce; utilize Salesforce and Outlook alongside the new Salesforce for Outlook, and connect data from Salesforce to Excel and Power BI with Office 365 to visualize information and find new insights.
