This year will have for the first time an edition in virtual format 100%

Registration is now open for the 19th edition of Imagine Cup 2021, a global competition organized by Microsoft that aims to transform academic projects into successful startups through the use of innovative technology solutions based on the Azure cloud platform.  

At the tournament, young students from around the world will have the opportunity to acquire new technical and business skills through their projects. Due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, Imagine Cup will be held for the first time entirely in virtual format. Those interested in participating in this edition of the competition will be able to register through the website https://imaginecup.microsoft.com/. The winner will be announced in May and will receive the US$ 75,000.00 award and a mentoring session with Satya Nadella, Microsoft's CEO.  

In the past 19 years, more than two million students from all over the world have signed up for the Imagine Cup. In common, they aim to build something that makes a difference in their communities and innovates to make an impact. More than 200 thousand Brazilians have participated in the tournament and nine national teams were champions in that period, including the eFitFashion team, which won the competition in 2015 with a project that revolutionized the online fashion market. Having won, the team had the opportunity to be coached by Satya Nadella. In 2020, 886 Brazilian students participated in the Imagine Cup and the Intivity team, creators of the Like Bee solution, an intelligent trash can that identifies each discarded material in order to facilitate selective collection in cities, was the Brazilian representative in the final of the competition.

Microsoft created the Imagine Cup in 2003, a student competition that aims to turn academic work into startups. The initiative has already inspired more than 2 million technology students, from different academic areas, to collaborate, innovate and present creative projects.
