The President of the Republic, Michel Temer, signed this Wednesday (21), during the 47th Meeting of the Economic and Social Development Council (CDES), at Palácio do Planalto, the decree establishing the Brazilian Strategy for Digital Transformation (E -Digital) and creates the Interministerial Committee for Digital Transformation.

Considered a key piece to increase the competitiveness and productivity of the Brazilian economy, the Digital Strategy establishes a set of 100 actions to boost the digitization of production processes and society within a four-year horizon.

The aim is to create an environment for transformative impacts in agriculture, commerce, education, finance, industry and services. For this, nine thematic axes were defined.

As enablers of digital transformation are network infrastructure and internet access; research, development and innovation; trust in the digital environment; education and professional training; and international dimension.

On the other hand, the axes of digital transformation consist of a data-based economy; a world of connected devices; new business models; and digital transformation of citizenship and government.

E-Digital is the result of extensive work carried out by an Interministerial Working Group, coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC), in partnership with the productive sector, the scientific and academic community and civil society. The document was submitted for public consultation in September 2017 and received more than 2 thousand hits.

It is important to highlight that several MCTIC actions are aligned with E-Digital. The Geostationary Defense and Strategic Communications Satellite (SGDC), in orbit since May 2017, is an important part of the effort to digitize the Brazilian economy and society by bringing broadband access to schools, hospitals and locations without connectivity across the country. .

In addition, the National Plan for the Internet of Things, under construction by MCTIC in partnership with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), provides for the adoption of public policies for the development of the Internet of Things in four priority environments: cities , health, agribusiness and industry.
